Dave Mallon Has Top Five

Dave Mallon, a 6-9, 210 pound power forward/center from East Aurora H.S. in East Aurora, N.Y., has sliced his list to five colleges this fall.
Mallon said he plans to officially visit all five of the finalists on his list. They are Pittsburgh, Rhode Island, Canisius, UMass and St. Joe's.

Thus far, Mallon has plotted a trio of trips. He will visit St. Joseph's from Sept. 27-29, Rhode Island from Oct. 5-7 and Pitt for midnight madness, from Oct. 12-14.
Mallon has already visited all of the schools on his list on an unofficial basis.
"Everybody has been real good so far," he said. "I wish this decision was not so hard. All of the coaches have been great and real nice and informative. Nobody has put too much pressure on me."
In our last update, Mallon had said the league factor could play a role in his decision -- whether he wanted to play in a big league like the Big East or a smaller league like the MAAC.
"My high school coach help me to put things in perspective," Mallon admitted. "For instance, St. Joe's is ranked in the top 10 in the nation this year, while Pittsburgh isn't. So I am not sure how the leagues will play into this anymore. It's all kind of evened out right now."
Mallon said the official visits will probably be the decisive yardstick in his choice. He still plans on signing early.
