Danny Green Receiving Some D-1 Looks

Danny Green, a 6-2, 170-pound combination guard from Poly Prep Day School in Brooklyn, New York, played for the 92nd St. YMCA AAU
program this past summer and fall.

Green brings good size and strength to his
position. He is athletic, a competent slasher, and when Rivals Hoops saw him, displayed a reliable long-range jumpshot. The biggest knock on Green has been his consistency shooting the ball, but when
Rivals Hoops saw him at the Connecticut Select Tournament, he dispelled that notion at least for one contest, hitting four threes in one game.
Green is being courted by Colgate, St. Francis (NY), The Air Force Academy, Davidson, Quinnipiac, Central Connecticut, Princeton, and Cornell. St. Francis has
offered.
Green is taking an unofficial visit to St. Francis this weekend. He will take an official visit to Colgate next weekend.
Poly Prep coach Bill McNally discussed a leader. "I would think Colgate has a little edge right now because his best friend(Keith Williams) is up there, and the in-home visit went very well."
Green averaged 15 points, 4 assists, and 6 rebounds for Poly Prep last season in a complimentary role alongside current Colgate freshman Keith Williams and a slew of seniors. This year he will be the go-to guy
for coach Bill McNally.
McNally talked about Green's role. "I think Danny will have a breakout season this
year. He will be the centerpiece of our team.
"Last year, we had eight seniors on the team. This year I'll be looked to score a lot more."
McNally added: "He can score, and he can score in a variety of ways, which makes it difficult to match up with him. He shoots the three very well, which a lot of people
don't know, he gets to the bucket, and he's got an in-between game. He's a very good defender, especially on the ball."
McNally said Green is looking for a balanced college life. "He's a kid that wants a good academic school, but
basketball is very important to him," he said.
Green didn't get the opportunity to showcase his skills to the extent he wanted to last season, missing some key games where college coaches would be in attendance after cutting his finger.
"He missed some crucial out of conference games against St. Francis Prep, LaSalle Academy, and the Monsignor King Tournament after he cut his finger. So he didn't get as much exposure as he would have wanted," McNally said. "If anyone is an example of why this recruiting period isn't the way to go, it's Danny. He turned down a chance to go to Las Vegas(for the Big Time
Tournament) with the Brooklyn Beasts to participate in the Empire State Games. He played very well there, but didn't get much exposure.
"He's a kid who loves the game. He has a love affair with the game of basketball. If he takes a visit and sees a place that he really loves, then he might sign early. But otherwise, he'll wait until after the season and see what happens."
Green is the nephew of former NBA guard and current Florida Atlantic coach Sidney Green. Green carries a B average in the classroom and scored 1120 on the SAT the first time he took it. He will take the test again on November 3rd.
