Daniels leads talented small forwards

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - During Friday morning's session of the NBA Players Association Top 100 Camp a couple of skilled forwards, including DeAndre Daniels, grabbed the spotlight.

DeAndre Daniels, SF- Daniels moved into the top 12 in scoring for the camp with a 16 point effort in Friday morning's session. He is attacking the rim with authority and draining three-pointers. His one dribble hop back three is just one example of great things to come from this multifaceted forward. Measuring 6-foot-9 at the camp, Daniels is also an adept ball handler and strong defender and rebounder to boot. No high level prospect has their stock on the rise more than Daniels.

Rodney Hood, SF- Also sensational in the morning session was Hood. Similar to Daniels, Hood is a terrific ball handler and passer from the forward position. Today, however, he scored with great confidence from all three levels. Looking like a left handed Scottie Pippen at times, Hood will dramatically raise his value as a prospect if he proves he can consistently score.

Amir Garrett, SF- A lefty as well, Garrett didn't put up double digit points this morning like he did in the previous sessions, but his defense on Ky Madden was outstanding. Garrett could be a quintessential multi-positional lockdown defender with his athleticism and instincts.

D'Angelo Harrison, SG- Scoring comes so easily for Harrison. Not only is he a pure shooter, but he is so comfortable with the basketball. While letting the game flow to him, Harrison has himself in the top 12 scores for the camp.

Julien Lewis, SG- This athletic wing scorer finally got untracked this morning and put up nine points primarily on pull up jumpers in the midrange. He has an athletic and physical edge to his game that should work well for him at Texas.

Quddus Bello, SG/SF- Bello continues to show progress with his game. This morning it was a couple jumpers from the baseline that have scouts wondering just how good this uber-athlete could become one day.

Nick Faust, SG/SF- This sharp shooter is playing more like a four-star prospect than a three-star prospect at the camp. Tied with Josiah Turner as the fifth top scorer at the camp, Faust is draining three-pointers with his unorthodox style. He is also quick to the rim when defenders rush his jumper.

OTHER NOTES

Rarely do you see a post player with an automatic way to score over a defender in the low post, but that is exactly what Nick Jacobs has. His left handed jump hook is as good as money in the bank.

Cut out of a similar mold as Jacobs, big bodied 2012 post player Robert Carter is having a strong showing at the camp, averaging just under double digit points a game.

There might not be a more versatile guard in the camp than Levi Randolph. Besides being a standout shooter/scorer and capable of running the point, he can also score with his back to the basket over smaller guards.

There aren't many 2013 prospects who can get to the rim like Rodney Purvis.
