Daniels Favors Two; Waiting on One

Combo forward Will Daniels from Franklin D. Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park, New York has Rutgers, Rhode Island, St. Bonaventure’s, Richmond, and St. John’s on his list of schools. Rutgers and Rhode Island are the top two schools for the 6-foot-6, 205-pound Daniels.

“I like the Rutgers coaching staff,” he said. “I like the conference and exposure in the Big East. The campus is great, and it is a good distance from home, two hours away.”

“Rhode Island has a great coaching staff, and they are going to have a premier team coming up. They have had a lot of NCAA tournament exposure. Also, it is a nice area and only two and a half hours away.”

All the schools on Daniel’s list have offered scholarships except for St. John’s. If St. John’s comes through with a scholarship offer, it is likely they will move to the top with Rutgers and Rhode Island.

“They [St. John’s] are coming in for a home visit the first week in October. After that they want me to come on their campus,” he said. “I understand they are recruiting a lot of power forwards and guards. One of my coaches is really familiar with the St. John’s guys. After the Nike Camp, they started watching me. I’d be a good fit for the program. They lack a versatile player. I could give them an edge.”

Daniels already has taken an official visit to Rhode Island and will be visiting Rutgers this weekend. The following weekend he will visit St. Bonaventure’s.
