Dan Oppland Has Top Five

One of the more impressive non-big names was Dan Oppland, a 6-8, 215 pound forward from Whitfield High School in St. Louis, Missouri.
We had heard of him through some Five Star reports. And we were fortunate enough to have a chance to play on four occasions at last month's ABCD camp on the campus of FDU.

Oppland impressed us. He averaged 11.3 points a game, five rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal per contest. He works hard at both ends of the court. He is likely going to have to go into the weight room and strengthen the upper body so he can compete more effectively on the physical level.
But Oppland has a chance to be a pretty good college player. He has good instincts and runs the floor well. He shot 68.5 percent from the floor. Most of these can on sweeping drives to the basket. He also dropped in his only two three-point attempts.
He is also a very good foul shooter, hitting almost 83 percent from the free throw line. So a lot of positives can be attached to Dan Oppland's name.
"I am looking at five schools," Oppland said. "Valpariso, SW Missouri State, Davidson, Ohio University, and Central Florida."
Oppland said he has set up visits to all the schools but can't remember what weekends for each school. "My mom is handling that," he said. "But I will take them in September and October."
Oppland said he does not have a leader but wants to go to school with his twin brother, Mike. Dan averaged 22 points a game last year while Mike averaged 18 points.
