Dallas Live Events: Who were the coaches watching?

DUNCANVILLE, Texas -- The Dallas area is home to two major events during the second of July's three live periods and over 400 coaches made their way into town. During two days at the Main Floor and Great American Shootout events I was able to keep track on the movements of many of them and track some of the prospects that they were watching.

ACC

Georgia Tech - I saw a Georgia Tech assistant at the GASO on Saturday and he was keeping tabs on Rivals150 forward Kyler Edwards who has been on campus. 2018 three-star forward Kristian Sjolund was among the others Tech checked out.

Virginia Tech - The Hokies cast a wide net each year and will always be active in Texas due to Buzz Williams roots in the state. Four-star wing Kaden Archie, three-star shooter Keonte Kennedy, four-star big man Tyreek Smith from 2019 and potential big time 2020 guard R.J. Hampton got some looks.

BIG 12

Baylor - Five-star guard Quentin Grimes, 2019's No. 2 player Charles Bassey (before he got hurt), 2019 five-star Tyrese Maxey, four-star Grant Sherfield, four-star wing Jalen Wilson, four-star point guard De’Vion Harmon, four-star Avery Anderson and potential 2020 five-stars R.J. Hampton, Greg Brown and Cade Cunningham all drew looks.

Iowa State - Like most of the Big 12, the Cyclones were active the past couple of days and Kyler Edwards, four-star forward Jaedon Ledee, and big man Grayson Carter were among those they saw.

Kansas - The Jayhawks were sure to see priority guard target Quentin Grimes and they showed up for Charles Bassey even though he was out with an injury Friday night. 2019 stud Tyrese Maxey and 2020's Greg Brown and R.J. Hampton drew looks.

Kansas State - The Wildcats were all over the place seing players like Kyler Edwards, Bryson Etienne, Grant Sherfield, Jalen Wilson, Drew Timme, Samuell Williamson and R.J. Hampton.

Oklahoma - The Sooners are always active in Texas and Lon Kruger plus assistants were on to see players like Quentin Grimes, Brock Cunningham, Justin Webster, Tyrese Maxey, De’vion Harmon, Jalen Wilson and Tyreek Smith.

Oklahoma State - The Cowboys are also active in Texas and hit the ground to see players like Kaden Archie, Kyler Edwards, Zac Watson, Reggie Chaney, Grayson Carter, Tyrese Maxey, De’Vion Harmon, Tyreek Smith, Greg Brown and R.J. Hampton.

TCU - Among those that Jamie Dixon and his staff were able to watch were committed four-star point guard Kendric Davis, Kaden Archie, Jaedon LeDee, Jordan Phillips, Reggie Chaney, Grayson Carter, Drew Timme and Tyreek Smith.

Texas - Shaka Smart was visible on Thursday and the Longhorns are trying to shut down the borders. Quentin Grimes, Kaden Archie, Gerald Liddell (even though he was out with injury), Brock Cunningham, Ousmane Ndim, Grant Sherfield, Tyrese Maxey, De’Vion Harmon, Drew Timme, R.J. Hampton and Greg Brown.

Texas Tech - The Red Raiders have done a good job of finding sleepers and Chris Beard is trying to keep that up. Kaden Archie, Kyler Edwards, Keonte Kennedy, Ousmane Ndim, sleeper forward Feron Hunt, Reggie Chaney, Jalen Wilson, Grant Sherfield and R.J. Hampton all got looks.

BIG EAST

Marquette - The entire Marquette staff showed up to watch five-star Quentin Grimes and 2019 four-star Jalen Wilson get after it. Don't be surprised if they look to get involved with Kyler Edwards.

BIG TEN

Michigan State - In the class of 2019, five-star shooting guard Tyrese Maxey is emerging as a major target and early on the Spartans are in good position.

PAC 12

Arizona - Sean Miller is going to get an official visit out of five-star Quentin Grimes and made sure he was seen on Friday. He was among those who had hoped to see Charles Bassey but 2019's No. 2 player shut it down after his first game on Thursday.

Arizona State - The Sun Devils were on hand each of the first two days in Dallas seeing players like Keonte Kennedy, Tyrese Maxey, De’Vion Harmon and emerging 2019 wing Emmanuel Taban from Arizona.

Cal - New assistant Chris Walker has deep ties in Texas and was out and about to see players like Jaedon LeDee, Grant Sherfield, Jalen Wilson, Greg Brown, Tyrese Maxey and Drew Timme.

Colorado - Head coach Tad Boyle was on hand Thursday and Friday and over the course of two days the Buffs looked to be getting looks at the likes of Keonte Kennedy, Kristian Sjoulund, Jalen Wilson, Feron Hunt, Reggie Chaney and many more.

Stanford - The Cardinal were in town for Brock Cunningham, Dylan Disu, Kevin McCullar and Tyrese Maxey.

UCLA - The Bruins checked in on Jaedon Ledee, Tyrese Maxey, De’Vion Harmon and R.J. Hampton. They had hoped to be in the group watching Grant Sherfield, but he only played on Thursday due to a back injury.

SEC

Arkansas - The Razorbacks were shopping for players like Kaden Archie, Reggie Chaney, Jordan Phillips, Feron Hunt, tough guard Isaac Likekele and Jalen Wilson.

Kentucky - John Calipari and an assistant were on hand for Quentin Grimes and were among those foiled by injury in their attempt to see Charles Bassey.

LSU - The Tigers many players including Kaden Archie, Kyler Edwards, Jaedon LeDee, Grayson Carter, Grant Sherfield, Tyrese Maxey and De’Vion Harmon among others.

Ole Miss - The Rebels had an assistant on hand Friday and saw players like big man Ousmane Ndim, Chris Mullins, Kristian Sjolund, Tyrese Maxey and Keonte Kennedy.

Texas A&M - At times, the Aggies rolled as many as four deep as they covered tons of ground and saw Quentin Grimes, Nigel Hawkins, Reggie Chaney, Grayson Carter, Souleymane Doumbia, Grant Sherfield, Tyrese Maxey, Jalen Wilson, Tyreek Smith, Drew Timme and Charles Bassey.

OTHERS

Houston - Kelvin Sampson and the Cougars were well represented watching JaeDon LeDee, Kyler Edwards, Ferron Hunt, Nigel Hawkins and high flying Victor Iwuakor.

Memphis - Tubby Smith is familiar with Texas from his time at Texas Tech and was chasing players like Keonte Kennedy, Isaac Likekele, Zac Watson, Souleymane Doumbia, Jalen Wilson and Chris Harris.

Rice - Head coach Scott Pera was active chasing Nigel Hawkins, Connor Vanover, Kristian Sjolund, Zac Watson, Ajare Sanni and Keonte Kennedy.

SMU - On Friday, Tim Jankovich joined his assistants watching Kyler Edwards, Kaden Archie, Grayson Carter, Gerald Liddell (though injured), Tyrese Maxey, De’Vion Harmon, Grant Sherfield, Drew Timme, Tyreek Smith, Jalen Wilson, Avery Anderson and R.J. Hampton among others.

Tulsa - Head coach Frank Haith had his guys covering ground watching several prospects including Jordan Phillips, Feron Hunt, Connor Vanover, Frank Agunnane, Elijah Parquet, Kristian Sjolund, Victor Iwuakor, Kevin McCuller, Samuell Williamson, D.J. Thorpe, Darius McBride and Chris Harris to name a few.
