Dacons Will Visit Temple

Oak Hill Academy head coach Steve Smith told RivalsHoops.com on Monday morning that Dion Dacons, an active 6-6, 205 pound power/combination forward, will take an official visit to Temple this week. "He has already taken a visit to Boston University and there is some interest from Rice," Smith said. "But he will first take his trip to Temple. He could make a decision after his visit."
Dacons will take his visit to the Philadelphia campus this Wednesday. He returns on Friday. Perhaps he might make a decision after taking his trip. "It's possible," Smith said. "He might not end up taking another trip."

Dacons, who played this past season for Smith at Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va., also had serious interest in Wyoming. "Dion cancelled his visit to Wyoming," Smith said. "It may have been too far for him to play."
East Carolina, Davidson, and Appalachian State were previously mentioned. Dacons averaged 15 points and seven rebounds a game this past season. Dacons improved his jumper and is a much better all-around player now than he was a year ago. On a loaded Oak Hill Academy squad, Dacons averaged seven points and six rebounds per game in a reserve role in 2001-2002.
The positives about Dacons is his aggressive play and his relentless pursuit of the basket from the opening tap to the final whistle. Dion loves to get up on the glass, especially on the offensive end. He is also skilled in scoring in transition opportunities. Dion is also an excellent student. Dacons said he has a 3.6 GPA and scored a 1060 on the SAT.
