Dacons Keeps Options Open

Dion Dacons, an active 6-6, 205 pound power/combination forward from Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va., continues to have a very successful season. Dacons is hoping that his terrific year will translate into a high division one offers. But currently, Dacons has some pretty good schools already willing to offer -- Davidson, Old Dominion, Boston University, and VCU.
"He is our second leading scorer," Oak Hill head coach Steve Smith said. "He works real hard every game."

Dacons also averages close to seven rebounds a game. "I told him to hang in there and continue to work hard," Smith said. "But the schools he has already offering are very good schools."
Smith said Dacons has improved his jumper and is becoming a better all-around player. "He hustles all the time," Smith said. "He would have to be one of our MVP's the way he has played all year."
During the summer, Dacons told the Insiders Report/Rivalshoops.com that he has been offered scholarships by Clemson, DePaul and Delaware. But the schools listed above have gone elsewhere to grab talent.
On a loaded Oak Hill Academy squad, Dacons averaged seven points and six rebounds per game in a reserve role last season. What RivalsHoops.com liked most about Dacons was his aggressive play and his relentless assault on the basket all game long. He hits the offensive glass hard from the wing and is also an effective scorer in transition settings. He can put the ball on the floor a bit with effectiveness, but just for short stretches.
Dacons said he has a 3.6 GPA and scored a 1060 on the SAT.
