CT Big Man Madera Colonial-Bound

Rafael Madera, a 6'10'' 240 pound big forward / center from the Avon Old Farms School in Avon, Connecticut, has committed to Delaware, according to sources close to Madera.

He will sign a letter of intent this week. The other finalists for the wide-bodied lefthander were Rider and Virginia Commonwealth. Madera had previously visited Delaware and VCU before making his decision. A trip to Rider scheduled for this week was cancelled.

Madera is a developing big man with a soft shooting touch. He had gotten feelers from some Atlantic 10, ACC and Big East programs over the course of his recruitment, such as Dayton, Clemson and Miami. Ultimately, this should be a good level for the New York City native to develop and to get an opportunity to contribute early on.
