Blue collar is a good way of describing the play of Duke Crews, a 6-foot-7, 235-pound power forward from Bethel High School in Hampton, Va. Busy is a good way of describing his recruitment. Between tournaments and recruiting trips, the soon-to-be four-star prospect is enjoying the recruiting process along the way with his Boo Williams Summer League team.

Crews started the AAU season with a bang at the Boo Williams Invitational. He dominated the glass, pounded the ball inside and showed off his amazing athleticism play after play. He continued to do that all spring and with the exception of the Next Level tournament in Dallas, Crews and his running mates have been in the championship finals of every tournament they've played in.
"I think as far as what people expected of me, I did better than what they thought I could do," Crews said. "Everybody's goal is to get noticed right now and I know this is my last year of AAU so I decided to leave it all on the floor. You can't say, 'Well I didn't do so good this year, I'll do better next year.' It's now or never."
Playing well always translates into a hot recruitment and that is what is happening for Crews, who will make a strong debut in the new Rivals top 150 rankings for the class of 2006.
"Xavier and St. John's are probably the two that are recruiting me the hardest right now," Crews said. "Both are pretty good schools but I'm going to keep absorbing it all up until the end of the summer."
As high as he holds Xavier and St. John's, there are a number of schools involved. Cincinnati, Connecticut, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Maryland, Rutgers and Tennessee join his favorite list. Crews said Boston College, Florida and North Carolina have all entered the picture of late.
"Roy Williams called my coach last Thursday," Crews said.
Crews has visited Xavier with his close friend and AAU teammate Stefan Welsh in April. Crews said he could make an unofficial visit to Maryland in the next couple of weeks. He will play in the prestigious NBA Players Association camp in late June so an exact time has not been set.
Come July, don't be surprised to see a number of college coaches watching Crews. His recruitment is busy now but it's about to get very loud next month.
