Crenshaw's jumper snuffed out a great rally by Port Jefferson. It appeared that Greenport had complete control of the game after Crenshaw hit a layup with about 24 seconds left in the third quarter. This gave Greenport a 51-41 lead.
It was still a 10-point deficit, 53-43, heading into the final quarter. Then Jacob Clark and company got going for Port Jefferson. Clark hit a couple of drives to cut the lead to 55-52 with 4:50 left in the game.
Cody Buchalter hit another driving shot and Clark drained a jumper from the left side to give Port Jefferson a 56-55 lead with 3:45 to play. On the next possession, Crenshaw hit a driving shot to help Greenport regain the advantage.
Back and forth they went until Crenshaw ended the lead changes with his jumper. Port Jefferson had two more chances to take the lead. A missed Clark shot with about 7 seconds was retrieved by Port Jefferson. They tried to set up a play with 5.7 seconds left but never got a shot off.
Crenshaw led all scorers with 36 points while Sam Carey added 10 points for the winners. Clark led Port Jefferson with 28 points while Kevin Fantigrossi had 12, Mike Lucki had seven, and Kenny Guerin added nine points.
