A slippery 5-foot-11 point guard who is an on the floor leader, Chatman hails from The Colony (Texas) High and is a three-star prospect. He cited comfort with the school, staff and in particular the job done by assistant coach Steve Lutz.
"I felt comfortable there, I just felt happy," said Chatman of his decision. "I really like the staff. Also, if it wasn't for Coach Lutz I might not have thought about them. I knew him from SMU and he did a great job recruiting me and developing a relationship."
Chatman played his summer ball with Deron Williams Elite and said that the chance to play with fellow Texans didn't hurt either.
"It really did help because I actually know some of those recruits," Chatman told Rivals.com. "I played against Nevin and I played with Geoff. That really helped."
"I feel like I'll do a real good job up there. I'm just going to keep working on my game to get better."
