Creighton bolstered their backcourt when it landed a commitment from three-star shooting guard Khyri Thomas on Thursday.
A native of Omaha who played his high school ball at Benson High School, the 6-foot-3 Thomas is spending a prep school year at Fork Union (Va.) Military Academy and the prep year has served him well.
Coming out of high school, Thomas was known as a long and pretty athletic driver who liked to attack the rim and play in transition. During his prep school year he has only expanded things.
Thomas still prefers to attack the rim and get out in transition, but he's smoothed out some of the rough edges of his game. While he won't likely play at the point, he has really improved his ball handling and he he has become a respectable mid-range jump-shooter. What Thomas -- who has a 6-foot-9 wingpan -- has really done, though, is add strength and turn himself into a potential defensive stopper.
Thomas' length, athleticism and ability to play with some edge are exactly what Creighton was looking for this spring, so he should fit the bill.
Creighton's fourth commitment from the class of 2015, he joins top 50 four-star big man Justin Patton, three-star combo guard Marlon Stewart and three-star combo forward Martin Krampelj who all signed during the early signing period.
