Crawford staying home

At one time shooting guard Chris Crawford looked destined for Tennessee, but as he drew closer to a decision, the allure of playing in his hometown of Memphis only grew stronger.
After losing Austin Hollins, also of Memphis to Minnesota, Memphis rebounded by landing its fourth guard in its 2010 class with the commitment of Crawford.

"I wanted to stay home and play in front of my family," Crawford told Rivals.com.
Guaranteed playing time was thought to be a major consideration for Crawford, 6-foot-4, 185-pounds from Memphis Sheffield High School, but he has opted for the day to day competition of practicing against the top 2010 backcourt of Will Barton and Joe Jackson instead.
"One of the big reasons I'm going to Memphis is so I can compete in practice against those guys," Crawford said.
One of the top shooters in the 2010 class, Crawford is the No. 66 ranked prospect in the Rivals150.
Chris Crawford scouting report:
A silky smooth shooter, Crawford is also a clutch shooter from behind the arc. He is well built at 6-foot-4 and has a physical presence to his game beyond being just a shooter. Not an overwhelming athlete, Crawford does have a deceptive burst.
