Cox to hoop in the SEC

Both a high major prospect in football and basketball, Demarco Cox wants to focus on the hardcourt in college, and he has found a court in the SEC that he wants to play on.
Cox, a 6-foot-8, 285-pound center from Yazoo City (Miss.) High School might have better future upside in football, but basketball is what he plans to play at Ole Miss.

"For right now his focus is on basketball, but you never say never," Yazoo City assistant coach Joffre Washington told Rivals.com while Cox was practicing football with his high school team. "If an opportunity presents itself to transition into football, then he is open to it."
Also considering offers from Arkansas, Alabama and Tennessee, Cox has found the perfect fit with his home state team.
"We went up to team camp during the summer, and he'd been to elite camp the past two years," said Washington. "He met and talked with Coach Kennedy, and they developed a good relationship. He liked the campus and the academics, and with it being a state school, his family and friends won't have to travel too far to watch him play."
Cox, who is ranked the No. 62 prospect in the Rivals150, had a strong summer playing for the MBA Hoops team. He is quick off his feet for a player his size and has a nice scoring touch in the lane.
