Cortez Davis Interview

The Insiders Report caught up with Cortez Davis, an athletic 6-7, 190 pound wing forward from Washington D.C. on late Thursday night regarding his recent verbal commitment to Maryland.
Davis, who attended Bridgton Academy in Maine this past school year, plans to enroll at Hargrave Military Academy of Virginia in the fall.

He is the second player to give an early verbal to the Terps, following in the footsteps of 6-4 Fairmont Heights shooting guard Chris McCray.
Here is a transcript of the interview:
Insiders Report: Cortez, why did you decide to commit to Maryland so early?
Cortez Davis: Just because I thought it was the best offer for me. It's kind of what I wanted.
IR: Can you tell us what things you were looking for in a college?
CD: A good basketball program, good academics, and plus it's close to home. My family can come and see most of my games.
IR:Who were some of the other schools that you had considered seriously prior to committing to Maryland?
CD: Kentucky, Texas, Miami, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Villanova and Rutgers.
IR: Did you go on a recent unofficial visit to Maryland? What were the exact events that led up to your commitment?
CD: Once the offer was made, it was a done deal.
IR: So I presume you only recently got a scholarship offer from Maryland?
CD: I kind of knew that a scholarship was going to be offered. But I just had to wait for a meeting to really find out that they were going to offer.
IR: So did you meet with the Maryland staff over the past few days and then they offered? Take me through what happened.
CD: I was talking over the phone to [the staff], and then last night [Wednesday night], I had a meeting with Gary Williams and Dave Dickerson.
IR: So you went to College Park and met with the coaches?
CD: Yes. And that's when they offered.
