The federal investigation into corruption in college and grassroots basketball has cost USC the commitment of four-star power forward J'Raan Brooks.

Two and a half weeks ago, Trojans assistant Tony Bland was among those arrested by the FBI and he's charged and is facing charges including soliciting a bribe and wire fraud for allegedly accepting money to steer athletes towards an agent.

After committing to the Trojans during the summer, Brooks -- a 6-foot-8 power forward from Seattle -- used his Twitter account to issue a statement that he would be opening his recruitment.

"Due to unforseen circumstances stemming from the recent news that has come to light in regards to the Trojan basketball program - I have decided to reopen my commitment to examine other available options," wrote Brooks.

A skilled 6-foot-8 forward with touch and athleticism, Brooks had been a major Pac 12 target prior to selecting the Trojans.

He has left open the possibility of attending USC but it's now open season on his recruitment. Prior to his pledge to the Trojans, Brooks was heavily targeted by Stanford and Washington among others.

Prior to his de-commitment, USC's recruiting class ranked No. 5 nationally but will now slide to No. 16 overall. The Trojans class still includes a pair of top 40 prospects in 4-star shooting guard Kevin Porter and four-star combo forward Taeshon Cherry.
