Correction: Another Big Weekend For UVA

After hosting last weekend two of the top players in the 2003 class -- Luol Deng and Terrence Roberts -- the University of Virginia prepares for two more big official trips. Virginia will entertain talented swingman Gary Forbes, 6-6, of New York City and Ross Neltner, a skilled 6-8, 225 pound power forward from Highlands H.S. in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky.
Forbes has narrowed his list down to Virginia and Georgia Tech. He has already taken a visit to Paul Hewitt's program and told us he had a great time. "I liked the city of Atlanta," Forbes said. "It was like New York City."

Neltner has had some interest from Stanford, Utah, Michigan, LSU, West Virginia, Tulane, Princeton, and Davidson. Neltner told the Insiders Report/Rivalshoops.com that he visited Bill Carmody's Northwestern program in the spring. But Northwestern is out.
At the ABCD Camp, we liked the way that Neltner played within himself, proving himself to be a capable rebounder and outlet passer. He is a pretty nifty passer for a big man, and we are certain that we will see some more aspects of his game out in Las Vegas with the Derek Smith All-Stars.
This past season at Highlands, Neltner averaged 18 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, two steals and four blocks per game. He said he has a 3.9 GPA and scored an 1160 on the SAT and a 27 on the ACT.
Virginia has offered both Forbes and Neltner. Forbes is expected to announce next Wednesday while Neltner has been offered by the Cavs. If Neltner takes the offer, then their efforts to recruit Sheray Thomas might end. Thomas, a 6-8 forward, told us recently that he plans on visiting Kentucky in October before making a decision.
