Cook Impresses for Hunting Park @ Big Time Tourney

LOS ANGELES -- Some players are nearly impossible to classify by position, but they get quite a bit done on the basketball court regardless.
In scouting circles, we have a way around this. We say that the kid is a player.

That's probably the most appropos way to describe stocky 6-2, 210 pound swingman Mike Cook of the Hunting Park Warriors program.
His height suggests that he play either guard slot, but Cook is not a great outside shooter (long distance).
What he does do is handle the ball pretty reliably and drive to the basket, where he can score going to the rim or pulling up for the short-mid range shot. Because of his stocky frame, Cook is particularly adept at drawing contact and getting to the line.
At his current size and weight, Cook will never be ultra fast or athletic, but he's a survivor and a creature of habit who knows how he needs to play to get things done.
And quite often, he does just that -- gets things done.
A student at Friends Central H.S. in Wynnewood, Penn., Cook said he has been in contact with several schools this summer, including LaSalle, UMass, St. Joseph's, Penn State, Drexel, Towson, American and Siena.
Playing alongside Syracuse bound Hakim Warrick this past season at Friends, Cook averaged 19 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals per contest.
He also teamed with Warrick last September to help Positive Image take the crown at the Charlie Weber Tournament in Maryland.
Cook said he was not sure about his GPA, but he added that he has already surpassed the NCAA minimum of 820 on the SAT exam.
Prior to attending the Big Time Tournament and this week's Best of the Summer Tournament, Cook attended the Charlie Weber Tournament at Penn State with Hunting Park.
He is likely to rejoin Positive Image again this fall for some events, so stay tuned!
