Conger inks with A-10 program

Demitrius Conger, a 6-foot-6 wing from Covenant Christian in Marietta, Georgia, is taking his game back to his native Northeast. The senior signed with an Atlantic 10 school this week.
Conger, a Brooklyn, N.Y. native, signed with St. Bonaventure in the early signing period. Getting back home was a major factor in his decision, he said.

"At first it wasn't a big deal to me but the more and more I thought about it, it was," Conger said. "I thought it would be nice for my grandmother and my sisters to see me play. Plus, the Atlantic 10 tournament is in Atlantic City and I have a lot of family in that area so it all came together."
Conger, an athletic and long combo forward, said he liked what he saw on his visit to St. Bonaventure and likes his potential within the team's style of play.
"I want to help get the Bonnies back where they used to be," Conger said. "I want to get it back on track. I'll do it by playing hard, playing defense, doing whatever it takes."
Conger said he also considered Mercer.
"Demitrius is a long, athletic three-man who exactly fits our up-tempo style of play," St. Bonaventure head coach Mark Schmidt said.
"His length combined with his ability to shoot the ball and scorer's mentality makes him a tough matchup for opposing defenses. He's flown a bit under the radar in terms of exposure, but we are extremely happy to have him joining our family. Demitrius is someone who will be successful both academically and athletically at St. Bonaventure."
