The long-awaited college decision for five-star forward Zion Williamson has been set. The second-ranked prospect in the 2018 class will announce his college choice on Jan. 20, selecting from a group consisting of Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, Kentucky, South Carolina and Clemson.

One of the most dominant players that the high school ranks have seen over the past 10 years, Williamson first flashed onto the scene as a 6-foot-3 scoring guard with the South Carolina Hornets, an elite travel program, during the summer of 2015. He earned his first scholarship offer from the local Wofford Terriers basketball program.

Clemson then joined the fray as the first power-level program to offer and since then, has continued to remain steady within his recruitment, despite his ascension into elite-dom, where he was tracked by practically every blueblood program nationally.

Now a 6-foot-6 prospect that boasts over 90,000 followers on Twitter and 1.1 million followers on Instagram, Williamson is arguably the most followed and tracked prospect during the social media era.

Known for his jaw-dropping dunks, Williamson will hit the college game during the age of small-ball basketball, playing perfectly to his strengths. The knocks continue to come with Williamson’s infrequent shooting abilities, but his underrated passing skills, rebounding dominance and finishing numbers remain second to none.

He has taken official visits to Kansas, UNC, Duke and Kentucky, and any of the four would love to add the talents of Williamson. However, the talk lately has centered around the Clemson basketball program. Off to its best start since the hiring of Brad Brownell, the Tigers have sold the idea of playing for his home state and is also the place where Williamson's stepfather, Lee Anderson, played his college ball from 1981 to 1983.

A commitment on Jan. 20 will not only be a major point of celebration for a college program, but also a decision that could and should affect the 2018-2019 national championship picture.
