Under the direction of Shaka Smart, Virginia Commonwealth has made waves with its high-energy style of play. Friday night, Rivals150 member Justin Tillman went all in with the Rams.
A 6-foot-7 combo forward out of Detroit (Mich.) Pershing, Tillman committed during his official visit on Friday night.
Ranked No. 148 in the class of 2014, Tillman appears to be an outstanding fit for the Rams' "Havoc" style of play.
Tillman is a lean athlete who above anything else plays with extreme effort. He runs the floor extremely well, he crashes the glass, and he always seems to find his way to securing a loose ball.
This isn't to say that Tillman is just an effort guy. The three-star prospect takes big men off the dribble, he keeps defenders honest with his jump shooting from 12 to 17 feet, and while he plays with abandon, he does so without being out of control.
When rankings get updated in the next week, Tillman should be making a move up from his current spot.
Tillman is the Rams' second commitment and joins three-star point guard Jonathan Williams in VCU's 2104 recruiting class.
