Colvin leaves visit with Big Ten offer

2009 four-star prospect Chris Colvin had more than an impressive summer, and the offers are beginning to roll in for the 6-foot-2, 174-pound point guard from Chicago (Ill.) Whitney Young High School.
After an unofficial visit to Illinois over the weekend, Colvin picked up an offer from the Big Ten school to go along with a previous offer from Iowa. With more high-major offers on the way, Colvin is quite a ways away from formulating an official school list. He did, however, come away from the visit with a positive impression of Illinois.

"The visit went really well," said Colvin. "I played with the team in open gym and was able to tour the campus."
Along with his Illinois and Iowa offers, Colvin also has offers from Miami-Ohio and Northern Illinois. He is also receiving strong interest from Miami-Florida, Notre Dame, Purdue and Wisconsin.
As for what he is looking for in a school, pace of play is at the top of his list as it is with most point guards.
"I just want to go to a school that fits my style of play," he said. "I want to play in an up tempo system. I'm also looking for a good education."
Colvin is the No. 7 ranked point guard and No. 40 ranked prospect overall in the class of 2009.
Chris Colvin scouting report:
A physical lead guard, Colvin has the strength and quickness to get into the lane almost at will. Once inside the interior of the defense, he has the ability to finish as well as set up his shooters. Defensively, he has the tools to be a dominant defender against either guard position.
