Colorado Small Forward to SMU

Three-star small forward Ryan Dermody will join SMU in its inaugural season in Conference USA. Dermody, 6-foot-7, 200-pounds, from Loveland (Colo.) High School passed on the Big 12 and a chance to play close to home in opting for the Mustangs.
“Ryan verbally committed to SMU Monday night after his visit there over the weekend,” said Dermody’s mother Leslie Dermody. “He is really excited about it. He loved the campus and the program. He was supposed to visit Colorado this weekend but made up his mind he wanted to go to SMU.”

Dermody, who carries a 3.0 GPA and a score of 26 on the ACT, chose SMU over Vermont, Cal Poly, UC-Santa Barbara, and Belmont as well as Colorado.
“He liked the level of play of SMU and the fact that they are joining Conference USA,” said Mrs. Dermody.
Dermody is a skilled small forward with above average athleticism. He has a nice shooting stroke from behind the arc and should only get better as he develops more strength.
