Colorado big man receiving attention

Power forward Elgin Fitzgerald put up some impressive numbers for Palmer High School in Colorado Springs, Colo., easily averaging a double-double. As Fitzgerald, 6-foot-9, 235-pounds, plays this spring and summer for the Colorado Chaos AAU club, schools across the country are showing interest in the fundamentally sound big man.
"Elgin is probably getting recruited hardest by Washington State, Colorado State, Wyoming, Wichita State, Santa Clara and Dartmouth," said Colorado Chaos head coach Dave Matthews. "Washington State, Colorado State and Dartmouth have all visited Elgin."

Fitzgerald, who averaged 24 points, 13 rebounds and 3 blocked per game last season, makes up for what he lacks in athleticism with strong fundamentals and interior skills.
"Elgin is incredibly strong and has a good body," said Matthews. "He has really soft hands, good footwork and nice touch around the rim. He's a really fundamentally sound kid. He's not incredibly quick, but he knows how to use his body well and is one of the best outlet passers I've been around.
"He's working on his athleticism and on his lateral quickness, and I am confident he will do well in college. He is a good kid and a strong worker."
