BYU won out over Stanford, USC and Virginia for the services of Collinsworth, 6-foot-6, 195-pounds of Provo (Utah) High School.
"I had a very fun visit to BYU and had a great feeling about going there," said Collinsworth. "Their system is the best fit for me. It is an up tempo offense with the emphasis on the guards. The ball is in the guard's hands, and the offense is run through them."
Collinsworth, the No. 125 ranked prospect in the Rivals150, said that ultimately he chose BYU over Virginia.
His freshman year he will team up with his brother Chris, who is currently on his Mormon mission.
Kyle Collinsworth scouting report:
A physical wing player, Collinsworth has a knack at getting to the rim and either finishing or drawing fouls. Although he is just an average outside shooter, Collinsworth is a high level passer off the dribble. Defensively, he doesn't have the quickest feet, but Collinsworth has physical strength and is a good rebounder.
