College of Charleston Picks up Shooter

The son of former Georgia Tech great and NBA player Dennis Scott, Ryan Scott, had some high majors urging him to wait until the Spring to sign, but the 6-foot-4, 195-pound shooting guard from South Lakes High School in Reston, Va., has committed to a school that wanted him this Fall.
“Ryan committed to the College of Charleston on his official visit Saturday afternoon,” said Scott’s mother Kelli Gilmore. “He’s really excited about the opportunity. A lot of schools wanted Ryan to wait, but the College of Charleston wanted him right now.”

Scott put up strong numbers last season as a junior, averaging 22 points, 12 rebounds, and 9 assists per game.
The College of Charleston’s recruiting efforts throughout the summer secured the commitment from Scott.
“Ryan thought this was the best situation for him,” said Mrs. Gilmore. “They’ve been recruiting him all summer. He was also being recruited by Virginia Tech, Georgetown, Hartford, Seton Hall, and others wanted him to prep a year.”
