Coaches traveling to Minnesota to visit Wright

Champlin (Minn.) Champlin Park point guard McKinley Wright had a strong summer playing for Net Gain Sports in the Under Armour Association.
He impressed so much that schools such as Clemson, Marquette, Minnesota, Nebraska, Kansas State, Iowa State, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State have become involved in his recruitment. Each school has been to Minnesota in the past month to check on the Rivals150 member.

Clemson head coach Brad Brownell has been to Minnesota with an assistant already and let the three-star point guard know that he's wanted by the Tigers.
"I think they are a great school," Wright said. "They are in the ACC. They have a great program. It's a ways from home, but distance doesn't really impact me. I like Coach Brownell a lot and his staff. They are cool and crack a lot of jokes."
Iowa State head coach Steve Prohm has also made sure to make Wright feel like a priority.
"I like them a lot too," Wright said. "Their coach is on me hard. They call or text me probably three or four times every week. They are coming back up to see me next week."
Over the summer, Wright had the opportunity to make an unofficial visit to see Marquette's campus and he came away very impressed by coach Steve Wojciechowski and assistant coach Chris Carrawell.
"They have great facilities. I like Marquette a lot," he said. "I like Wojo and Carrawell a lot. When I went on my visit, I asked him some things I can do to be a better point guard and leader, and he gave me some tips. He was a good player and knows what he's talking about."
Minnesota has done a very good job securing the top talent in their backyard under Richard Pitino and hope to keep Wright home in the 2017 class.
"It would be great to play for my hometown school and have my family and friends be at all my home games to watch me play," Wright said.
A decision from Wright could still be a year away.
"I'm thinking around next October, but anything can happen," he said. "I could sit down with my family and coaches and find a school for me before then."
