Coaches focused on Coy

A big night is expected for hot 2008 prospect John Coy on his last regular season game Friday. Numerous coaches are scheduled to watch the 6-foot-7, 195-pound small forward.
Washington State, Arizona State, Kansas, Creighton, Iowa State, Wichita State, UNLV and Missouri are all expected to attend the game according to Coy's brother Richard Coy.

Kansas recently attended practice, and the Jayhawks are quickly moving up Coy's school list to challenge his leader Arizona State.
"Coach Jankovich came to my last practice," said Coy. "It was pretty cool to have Kansas come in with the school being so close to home. They said they were impressed with me and want to get out to watch me in a game as soon as possible."
Coy, who has already visited Creighton and Arizona State, is looking forward to visiting some more schools before he makes a decision.
"I'm still looking forward to visiting some more schools," he said. "I'm going back to Creighton next Saturday, and then later I'll visit Wichita State. I'd also like to visit Washington State, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to pull that one off."
Although Coy wants to give the other schools recruiting him a good look, he still speaks glowingly of Arizona State, which was the first school to offer him.
"The Arizona State coaches are great guys," he said. "They make me feel comfortable with everything and don't put pressure on me. Coach Phelps and Coach Sendek are top of the line guys. They know what they are doing and know how to recruit."
Right now Coy is trying to stay focused on winning a state championship, and all the sudden recruiting attention certainly hasn't hurt his play. Coy has consistently scored in the 30's and his team stands at 19-3.
Coy isn't certain when he will make a decision, but playing on the travel circuit in hopes of increasing his recruitment is not an issue.
"I have no idea when I'll make a decision," he said. "I'm pretty satisfied with who is recruiting me. I think it is awesome to have these schools recruiting me. There is no school out there in particular that I wish was recruiting me."
Coy will run with the Kansas City Pump N Run travel squad this spring and summer.
