Coaches aren't making same mistake on another Adams

MORE EVANS: Twitter Tuesday – Exploring the transfer market

One of the potential breakout performers entering the first two live periods at the end of the month, Brendan Adams incorporates a bevy of toughness, athleticism, scoring abilities and versatility into his repertoire of abilities. Already boasting offers from programs from either coast, Adams is set to pave his own path to college success.

The younger brother of Jaylen Adams, a star guard at St. Bonaventure’s, the Calvert Hall College High standout already holds scholarship offers from Stanford, St. Joe’s, Minnesota and Kansas State. Thanks to his ability to score in heavy amounts and defend various positions, the three-star recruit is ready to announce his decision this spring.

Coaches are doing their best to not make the same mistake that they did with Jaylen Adams.

“They all missed out on him so they’re going to come and see me,” Brendan said. “I kind of have size already unlike him but they don’t want to miss out again like they did with him.”

IN HIS OWN WORDS

The product of the Team Melo travel program has already seen his fair share of heavy hitters get involved.

“I am seeing a lot of schools that I would like to see interested in me but also seeing some more schools starting to come in every day,” Adams said. “I probably talk the most to Stanford, St. Joe’s, Cincinnati, Florida and Kansas State.”

The 6-foot-4 guard spoke further on a few of the schools standing out.

Stanford: “Great campus, definitely the academics, they have a new coaching staff over there trying to develop the program, which is definitely important.”

Cincinnati: “I feel like they can develop me defensively. I am more of an offensive guy and I need to work on my defense and rebounding; with them being a defensive-oriented team, they can help me develop that and my toughness.”

St. Joe’s: “Great coaching staff, great history and the coaches are really interested in me. They have a good team over the years, consistently winning the Atlantic 10 and going to the tournament really stands out.”

WHAT’S NEXT?

Adams is ready to finish his travel career on a high note as he will be hitting the Nike circuit this month with his talented Team Melo bunch.

When it comes to a college decision, expect one in the fall.

“I will probably start narrowing things down after the AAU season and make a decision sometime around October and November but do some visits beforehand,” Adams said.

RIVALS’ REACTION

Already holding a number of scholarship offers with a slew of others involved, Adams displays many of the characteristics of a high-level player. He can score from all three levels on the floor, sports a solid motor, brings good size onto the perimeter, and in the classroom is a standout student.

By the time August rolls around, the face of Adams’ recruitment will have changed immensely but, at the time being, it would seem as if Stanford, Cincinnati and St. Joe’s may have the best shot.
