Clemson Lands a Second 2005 Commitment
Julius Powell, a 6-foot-7, 190-pound power forward from Newton-Conover (N.C.) High School has committed to play collegiately at Clemson. Powell who looks to be a top 50 prospect in the class of 2005 had a couple other high major offers to go along with Clemson’s offer.
“I have only spoken with Julius for about a minute this morning because this is our exam week,” said Newton-Conover head coach Steve Lytton. “He told me then that I needed to know that he had committed to Clemson. Other than that, I really can’t tell you anything about his decision.... I do know he had definite offers from Charlotte, Georgia, and Clemson.”
Powell is Coach Purnell’s second 2005 commitment along with Joey Cameron from Leeds, Alabama. Cameron is also a 6-foot-7 power forward who looks to be a top 50 prospect in the class of 2005.
