Clemson Gets 2005 Commitment

After taking unofficial visits to Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, and Clemson, 2005 prospect Joey Cameron committed to the Tigers of the ACC. The 6-foot-7, 245-pound power forward from Leeds High School (Ala.) had offers from all four schools.
Coach Mike Turner of Leeds High School indicated that Cameron was extremely impressed with Coach Purnell of Clemson and anxious to get the recruiting process over with.

"Joey really liked his visit to Clemson and felt comfortable with the coaching staff," said Coach Turner. "But it wasn't only that. It felt like home to him with the small school environment and the people he met. He just thought it was time to get his decision behind him and now he can concentrate on his academics."
Cameron specializes in rebounding and defending. As with most juniors, his offensive skills need further refinement.
Cameron plays summer ball for the Southeast Pump & Run, but due to knee surgery, the athletic big man missed much of this summer’s AAU circuit. He is expected to be at 100 percent by the beginning of this season.
"He's not feeling any pain right now and I would say he's close to 100 percent," Coach Turner said. "I can tell you he's been strong in practice and is just aggressive as always. Joey likes to battle under the board. That's his strength."
