Class of 2019 standout Isaiah Wong has begun to enter the mix as a potential high-major lead guard, someone that makes everyone around him better but is more than capable of scoring against a half-court defense.

Standing at 6-foot-1 and with a nice burst on the downhill drive to the basket, Wong boasts a great intellect and feel for the game. While he is not the strongest or most explosive prospect, he competes and displays a bevy of valuable traits on the hardwood. Thanks to his ability to lead and make all of the proper plays, programs such as Syracuse, Temple, Rutgers and Ohio State have shown interest in his recruitment.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

With four offers to date, Wong's recruitment is just beginning to heat up.

“For offers I have St. Joe’s, Temple, Rutgers and Monmouth,” he said. “I visited Monmouth and went to one of their games and that’s how I got that offer. I also went to Syracuse for their midnight madness. They have a nice facility.”

Ohio State has been in to see Wong this winter, though it does seem like another Big Ten program, Rutgers, has done the most work with the savvy guard.

“They really came from nothing. They’re so big right now. It was so unsuspecting,” Wong said. “I really like the program. Corey Sanders, he might go to the NBA. He is like the second kid that went to Rutgers that went to the NBA.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

The next step for Wong is finishing out the high school season with his Notre Dame High School program before hitting the travel circuit with his We R1 group. Look for the momentum that he has created this winter to carry over into the spring and summer months.

RIVALS' REACTION

Wong has a high basketball IQ and sets others up for easy looks at the basket. He can also score with efficiency off the bounce and brings a competitive edge to the floor. The expectation is that, as he gets older, more offers and interest will come his way.
