Class of 2018 four-star Mucius looking for the right fit

Class of 2018 standout Isaiah Mucius boasts ample size, a boatload of confidence and an impeccable pull-up jump shot, making the 6-foot-7 small forward destined for high-major recruitment.

Mucius is ranked No. 58 in the 2018 Rivals150 and, as a four-star prospect, he has become the face his high school program. Despite not having the best of seasons this winter, interest in Mucius has continued to rise with programs such as Wake Forest, St. John’s, Maryland and Penn State in the mix.

Blessed with good length, excellent range on his jump shot and takeover abilities whenever his team might need it, Mucius is a threat at any time to light up the scoreboard. While he can really score the ball, he is continuing to work on improve other areas of his game.

“Energy, my motor has been getting a lot higher since the beginning of the season and going to the offensive glass. I think I am averaging over nine rebounds per game,” Mucius said. “Just getting to the basket and getting more creative. I have also gotten better with my ball handling and more confident with it.”

Mucius has put the recruitment process on the backburner a bit until the spring and summer, though a number of programs have remained on point in their pursuit.

“Wake Forest contacts me a lot; so does Rutgers, Florida, Seton Hall, Xavier and UConn,” he said. “All 12 of the schools that have offered contact me pretty much every single day. My recruitment is starting to pick up a lot and going into the springtime, it is going to be really good.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

While his recruitment looks to still be in its infancy stages, Mucius has a firm grasp of what he wants in a college program.

“Development, coming in and making an impact early even if it is coming off the bench but I do want to come in and start and make a good impact,” he said. “Also a good family feel and a place that can really develop me so that I can get to the league.”

During his final season on the travel circuit, keep your eyes peeled for Mucius on the Nike EYBL side as he will again run with the PSA Cardinals program.

RIVALS' REACTION

Mucius is not short on talent, as he single-handedly take over a game thanks to his versatility. He needs to become more consistent with his mindset and production, but look for Mucius to establish himself as a top-of-the-line talent this spring and settle into his college recruitment once the summer months complete.
