Small forward Mike Gilchrist holds fast to the top spot in the class. Speedy point guard Marquis Teague at No. 2 is in Gilchrist's rearview mirror but has a good bit of ground to make up in order to pass Gilchrist for the No. 1 spot.
Quincy Miller, who is in the mold of a young Kevin Durant, remains at No. 3. The lanky forward, however, will need to improve strength-wise to hold off other prospects in the top 10. Breathing down his neck is the top interior defender in the class Rakeem Christmas. Over the course of the summer, Christmas displayed signs of a developing offensive game as well.
The No. 6-ranked prospect James McAdoo was on top of his game until injury cut his summer short.
Bradley Beal and Austin Rivers are in a tussle for the top shooting guard position. Beal, the No. 7 overall prospect, is a more physical athlete with a stronger all-around game as a prototypical shooting guard. At No. 8 overall, Rivers is a shifty combo guard who is a right-hand dominant scorer.
The best passer in the 2011 class is No. 9-ranked prospect Anthony Wroten Jr.. A physical presence as a lead guard, Wroten could move up the rankings if he rounds out his game with a more reliable jumper.
The only prospect making his first entrance into the top ten is athletic center Michael Chandler. A Louisville commitment, Chandler has impressive upside and has the potential to push towards the top of the rankings.
Nine prospects move from the four-star ranks to the five-star ranks. Making the most significant jump is well-rounded point guard Shannon Scott, who went from No. 36 to No. 12. Physical wing Brandon Dawson is now at No. 16. Athletic combo guard Dai-Jon Parker is No. 17. Promising big man Angelo Chol is No. 19. Impressive scoring point guard Quinn Cook takes the No. 20 spot. Super-athletic combo guard Kevin Ware is at No. 22. Pure-shooting forward Kyle Wiltjer jumps to No. 23. Fleet-footed point guard Myck Kabongo moves to No. 24. And sharp-shooting wing P.J. Hairston is at No. 25.
