SHOOTING GUARDS
BEST RANGE
1) J.T. Terrell
High School: Charlotte (N.C.) West Charlotte
College choice: Wake Forest
Buzz: Terrell has never seen a shot he didn't like, and that means he'll shoot it from almost anywhere inside half court.
2) Reggie Bullock
High School: Kinston (N.C.) Kinston
College choice: North Carolina
Buzz: At a healthy 6 feet 6, Bullock has a nearly pure stroke that can stretch the defense well beyond the three-point line.
3) Dion Waiters
High School: Burlington (N.J.) Life Center Academy
College choice: Syracuse
Buzz: Waiters loves to use the high ball screen, and if the defender goes under the screen, he is more than happy to pull from deep.
4) Chris Crawford
High School: Memphis Sheffield
College choice: Memphis
Buzz: Crawford might just challenge Vanderbilt's John Jenkins as the best shooter in the state of Tennessee.
5) Terrence Ross
High School: Portland (Ore.) Jefferson
College choice: Undecided
Buzz: Cut from the same mold as Reggie Bullock, Ross can shoot with range and knock it down coming off screens.
BEST DEFENDER
1) Rickey Scott
High School: Irving (Texas) Macarthur School
College choice: Arkansas
Buzz: Name the perimeter position that needs to be stymied, and Scott, who is a natural defender, will be up for the challenge.
2) K.T. Harrell
High School: Montgomery (Ala.) Brewbaker Tech Magnet
College choice: Virginia
Buzz: Harrell is physical and competitive. Points do not come easily against him.
3) Tyler Lamb
High School: Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei
College choice: UCLA
Buzz: Lamb has built a reputation for himself as one of the top defenders in the country. Howland will definitely put him to work next year.
4) Mardracus Wade
High School: Chatham (Va.) Hargrave Military Academy
College choice: Arkansas
Buzz: Full of passion for the task and blessed with natural defensive ability, Wade will give SEC guards headaches.
5) Trey Zeigler
High School: Mount Pleasant (Mich.) Mount Pleasant
College choice: Undecided
Buzz: The mark of Zeigler's game is that it is of a complete nature, not just on the offensive end but on the defensive end as well.
BEST OFFENSIVE PLAYER
1) Will Barton
High School: Wolfboro (N.H.) Brewster Academy
College choice: Memphis
Buzz: Barton is an electric offensive player with his ability to break the defense down off the dribble and score or dish.
2) J.T. Terrell
High School: Charlotte (N.C.) West Charlotte
College choice: Wake Forest
Buzz: Some have a distaste for his gunning style. Others are enamored with his offensive prowess. Regardless, Terrell can put up points with the best in this class.
3) Doron Lamb
High School: Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill Academy
College choice: Undecided
Buzz: His midrange game is as good as it gets, and Lamb has a high-level feel for scoring.
4) Dion Waiters
High School: Burlington (N.J.) Life Center Academy
College choice: Syracuse
Buzz: Playing primarily as a point guard for his travel team, Waiters has always been one of the toughest perimeter players to guard in his class.
5) Reggie Bullock
High School: Kinston (N.C.) Kinston
College choice: North Carolina
Buzz: Besides his reliable deep shooting range, Bullock also can score attacking the basket in transition and by posting up.
BEST BALL HANDLER
1) Dion Waiters
High School: Burlington (N.J.) Life Center Academy
College choice: Syracuse
Buzz: Don't be surprised if Waiters runs a lot of point for Syracuse. He is that good with the ball.
2) Will Barton
High School: Wolfboro (N.H.) Brewster Academy
College choice: Memphis
Buzz: Barton has great command of his ball skills, and good things almost always happen when he attacks on the dribble.
3) Doron Lamb
High School: Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill Academy
College choice: Undecided
Buzz: His scoring ability is just too valuable to make him a primary ball handler, but Lamb handles the ball as well as most point guards.
4) Trae Golden
High School: Powder Springs (Ga.) Mceachern
College choice: Tennessee
Buzz: Some argue that Golden is a point guard and that very well may be the position he works into at Tennessee.
5) K.T. Harrell
High School: Montgomery (Ala.) Brewbaker Tech Magnet
College choice: Virginia
Buzz: Sturdy physically and solid with the basketball, Harrell gets the ball where it needs to be and makes plays.
