Clark opens up his recruitment

Gary Clark, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Montverde (Fla.) Academy, is no longer headed to Florida.
According to his head coach Kevin Sutton, Clark and Florida have agreed to split ways.

"He still has a scholarship from Florida," Sutton said, "but he and his family, along with Florida, mutually agreed that he should entertain other options and see what other people are interested."
Clark pledged to the Gators over a year ago. Since then he helped Booker High School in Sarasota win a 4A state title as a junior. Since he has been at Montverde, Sutton has been impressed.
"A lot of people came through in the fall to see some of our other guys and they all spoke highly of how good Gary played," Sutton said. "He worked his tail off. I didn't know Gary Clark as a sophomore or a junior but the Gary Clark that I know can flat out play."
Clark was one of the top players at the Breakdown Battle for the Rankings event in Orlando last weekend. Always a strong shooter from the wing, Clark has improved his defensive intensity and decision-making with the ball.
A handful of schools have already inquired of Clark, Sutton said. South Florida and Arkansas have put in calls and Sutton said "as soon as people find out, I'm sure I'll be talking to a lot more."
