Clanton will stay close to home

There will be no more sleepless nights for Orlando (Fla.) Christian power forward Keith Clanton. The 6-foot-8 big man is done with the nightly mental see-saw regarding his college choice.
Clanton announced he will sign with Central Florida on Wednesday afternoon at a press conference at his school. He also strongly considered Souoth Florida and South Carolina.

"I just felt really comfortable with the players there," Clanton said shortly after his press conference. "It mainly had to do with me being comfortable there. I felt like I could play right away at [UCF or South Florida] but the players were a big factor."
Clanton, a three-star prospect, joins shooting guard R.J. Scott in the 2009 recruiting class for the Conference USA school.
The big-bodied forward should see plenty of time right out of the gates for the Golden Knights. The local product said he likes the vision that Kirk Speraw and assistant coach Mike Jaskulski have for him.
"Coach said he thinks I can come in and start right away for them and play a lot as a freshman. I want to go there and help them win more games than they have in the past and I want to keep getting better and better. I want to see us be able to beat Memphis since they are the top dog right now [in Conference USA]."
