City of Palms Preview

The Holiday Season means big time high school basketball tournaments will be played across the country. No tournament has more prestige than the City of Palms Classic in Ft. Myers, Fla., and Rivals.com will be there to cover the quarterfinals through the finals on Friday night.
Greg Monroe, Rivals.com's No. 1 ranked junior in the country, already has his Helen Cox High School squad in the quarterfinals after a first round win.

Also joining Monroe in the quarterfinals are Arizona bound Jerryd Bayless and Duke bound Taylor King, who have both put up impressive numbers in their early games. Bayless' St. Mary's squad will play King's Mater Dei team Wednesday afternoon.
The No. 4 ranked prospect in the 2008 class Tyreke Evans gets into action tonight with his American Christian in hopes of earning a quarterfinal berth. Pittsburgh bound power player DeJuan Blair leads Schenley High School into its first round game tonight as well.
Area favorites Winter Park High School with its dynamic scoring duo of Nick Calathes and Chandler Parsons, who are both headed to Florida, are already slated for a quarterfinal game.
Other prospects of note who will be in action are Mater Dei's Kamyron Brown, Travis Wear and David Wear; Pace's Ray Shipman; Arlington Country Day's A.J. Stewart.
