Chucky Davis Update

Chucky Davis, a long-armed 6-8, 210 pound power forward from Southside H.S. in Selma, Ala., has narrowed his focus to six schools this summer. All six finalists are in the Southeastern United States.
Davis said he has been offered scholarships by Louisiana State, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Alabama, Auburn and UAB.

Davis has already set up a trio of official visits. He will visit LSU from Sept. 14-16, Georgia Tech from Sept. 21-23 and Vanderbilt from Oct. 19-21. He also definitely plans to visit Alabama (though no date has been determined) and may also officially trip to Auburn.
Davis said he has no plans for in-home visits and will use the official visits to separate the schools.
Right now, Alabama is in the lead, he said.
"It's close to home and they've been recruiting me for a while now," Davis said. "I seem to know the coaches and the players, and I think it would be a good place."
"All of the other schools are neck and neck," Davis continued. "Bama is in the lead but they are not that far ahead of the others."
So the visits over the next several weekends could prove telling, and the Insiders Report will keep you posted on Davis' recruitment in the coming weeks.
Davis averaged 24 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks as a junior last season. He carries a 3.7 GPA and scored a 21 on the ACT.
Davis played with Kenny Harris' Alabama Ice program this past summer. He kicked off the summer at the adidas ABCD Camp and also attended the AAU Super Showcase and the AAU Nationals in Florida later in July.
Davis is a deceptive player in that it often appears he is not playing a full tilt and does not jump out of the gym. While he may run with a lazy gait and can't jump to the sky, there is nothing pedestrian about Davis' interior game. Chucky uses his long arms and nimble foot work to create second and third chance scoring opportunities in the paint for his team, which he did quite consistently at the ABCD Camp in July.
