Christie headed to Evansville

J.D. Christie, the 6-foot-6, 220-pound small forward/shooting guard from Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village, Kan., has decided to put an end to his recruitment. Christie, the two-star prospect, had several scholarship offers on the table, but ultimately decided to give the nod to Evansville.
"J.D. has given an oral commitment to Evansville," said Shawnee Mission East head coach Shawn Hair. "He actually made the decision to attend Evansville last Friday. He took an official visit to the campus during Presidents day weekend and just loved what he saw.

"He has some problems with his flight back then, so he didn't get to watch Evansville play, but J.D. was able to spend time with the players and that was a great experience for him," he added. "I just couldn't be happier for J.D. and believe that he has made a great decision."
Aside from Evansville, Christie had received scholarship offers from the likes of Ball State, Illinois State and Northern Illinois. After a dominating performance at the State Tournament, other programs began to call on the 6-foot-6, 220-pound small forward/shooting guard.
However, Christie knew that Evansville was the best place for him to attend. He has a great relationship with the entire coaching staff.
"The coaching staff at Evansville did a great job recruiting J.D. from the very beginning," said Hair. "They truly believe in him and feel that he can come in and be a player for them right away. The coaching staff at Evansville made it clear that J.D. was a player that they really wanted, so he felt very good about that."
During his senior year at Shawnee Mission East, Christie averaged 20-points and 10 rebounds per game. He is the schools All-Time leading scorer.
