Christian Faith Pulls Away from Redemption in OT

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. -- J.R. Morris converted a pair of three pointers in overtime -- one on a three point basket and another on an old-fashioned three point play -- to guide Christian Faith Center to a 93-83 victory over Redemption Christian Academy on Sunday afternoon at the East Coast Jamboree.
Morris, a 6-5 guard who signed in the fall with Seton Hall, finished with 28 points. His three point play with 2:53 to play in overtime gave the Conquerors the lead for good in the extra session, and teammate DeWayne Green hit key free throws to put the game out of reach.

CFC trailed by three points at the half, but came out strong in the second half, opening up a 56-45 lead with 10:25 remaining on a three pointer by Green.
Redemption clawed back and grabbed a 78-76 lead on a three point play by guard Ade Swann with 1:19 left in regulation.
Following an empty CFC possession, Redemption had a chance to tack on some insurance, but small forward Surrell Evans stole an inbounds pass and J.R. Morris followed his miss on the other end to knot the game at 78 going into overtime.
In addition to Morris' heroics, Green hit for 16 points and Evans 14 for the Conquerors. Doug Thomas added 12 for the Conqs.
Swann, who previously played at LaSalle Academy in New York City, hit a number of three pointers on the way to a game high 31 points. Jarmon Collins added 20 points and James Akinjo 16 for the Lions.
Christian Faith won both of its games at the East Coast Jamboree, while Redemption dropped a pair.
