Chris Owens Close To Decision
Chris Owens, a 6-6, 225 pound power forward from Temple J.C. in Temple, Tex., may commit to Columbia University in New York in the very near future.
JUCO Junction/Rivalshoops.com caught up with Temple Head Coach Kirby Johnson on Wednesday, and he said that Owens recently paid a trip to the Ivy League school.

In addition to Columbia, Owens has also visited Birmingham Southern in Alabama.
"He's a very good student who has a 3.75 GPA and he wants to be a doctor," Johnson said. "The appeal of Columbia academically is something that is going to be hard to pass up."
Owens, a native of San Antonio, Tex., averaged 18.1 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game as a sophomore in 2001-2002.
A first-team all conference selection this past season, Owens turned in a solid performance last month at the Region V Tournament in Lubbock. While he may be a step slow from a lateral standpoint, Owens showed range beyond the three point arc and a penchant for rebounding the basketball.
Johnson expects Owens to make a decision within the next week or so, and we will keep you abreast of his future destination.
