McCray said he also considered Florida State, Clemson, Tennessee, Arkansas, Michigan, and Seton Hall.
"I have visited Maryland and Arkansas unofficially," McCray said. "Maryland offered me a month ago. I had to think about it (before committed). It was the best situation for me."
McCray said he spoke to his family first."I was telling my family that Juan Dixon was going to be gone," McCray said. "I can work hard and play alongside Mike Grinnon."
