Chipola J.C. teammates clear the air

There have been a lot of questions regarding Marianna (Fla.) Chipola teammates Jon Kreft and Casey Mitchell and their recruitment of late. The biggest question being is this: Are the two committed to UAB?
Rivals.com spoke to both players and the two players over the weekend, along with their coach Greg Heiar, at the Dallas Blowout junior college jamboree and the answer is no.

Mitchell, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard originally from Savannah, said he is strongly considering the Blazers but wanted to look at other schools before making his decision official.
"I was committed to UAB but I'm weighing my options until the signing period," Mitchell said.
The three-star prospect visited Tennessee earlier in the fall. He also visited UAB officially last month. Mitchell said Kentucky and Oklahoma State are also involved.
"I think UAB is strongly in the lead," Heiar said of Mitchell. "There are a lot of schools that are still trying to pursue Casey, too. Coach Davis and his staff have done an unbelievable job recruiting him. They are in there really good with Casey. He's never told me 100 percent that that is where he is going to school. But he's also told me that he really, really, really likes UAB."
Kreft signed with Florida State out of Stoneman-Douglas High School but had his scholarship revoked after he was arrested and charged with felony cocaine possession in 2006.
It was reported that Kreft committed to UAB in the fall but Heiar says the big man's situation is similar to Mitchell's.
"He is kind of a grey area, too," Heiar said. "We'll see on signing day, I guess, for both of them. [Florida State] coach [Leonard] Hamilton has done a lot for Jon. That will obviously go into his consideration for Jon, I'm sure."
Kreft echoed his coach's words.
"I'm still looking around," Kreft said. "I'll know by signing day."
The questions with both players should end in November, too.
