Chet Stachitas Narrows His Field To Six

Chet Stachitas, a sharpshooting 6-4, 185 pound off guard from Nease H.S. in St. Augustine, Fla., has narrowed his focus to six programs this fall.
Princeton, Boston University, St. Joseph's, Davidson, Stanford and Penn are the six finalists on Stachitas' list.

Stachitas has set up a quartet of in-home visits for this month. The first will be with Davidson on Sept. 11. Then he'll host St. Joe's on Sept. 17, Princeton on Sept. 18 and BU on Sept. 19.
Stachitas took an unofficial visit to Stanford in late July, and he plans to officially visit the school from Sept. 28-30.
Because both of his parents attended Penn, Stachitas said he was not sure if he would be hosting Fran Dunphy and his staff for an in-home visit. Stachitas swung by Penn for an unofficial visit during the Charlie Weber Spring Invitational at Villanova, where he played with the Florida based Fast Break team.
"They talked about coming in for the in-home visit, but we basically know everything about them," Stachitas explained. "Both of my parents went there and are really good friends with the coach, so we really don't feel we need the home visit with home."
Stachitas said he is still open on schools and does not have a specific timetable for making a decision.
Last year at Nease, Stachitas averaged 24 points, seven rebounds, two assists and three steals per game. He has a 4.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale and scored a 25 on the ACT.
Stachitas is a deadeye shooter who is especially effective from midrange off the dribble and coming off screens.
Stachitas attended the Eastern Invitational Basketball Clinic's first session in early July, and then joined the Atlanta Celtics at a pair of events -- the Three Stripes Classic in New York and the adidas Big Time Tournament in Las Vegas.
