Cheek boosts Villanovas class

As expected, five-star shooting guard Dominic Cheek publicly announced his commitment to Villanova after his Jersey City (N.J.) St. Anthony's practice on Friday evening. The big news in this story is the push Cheek gives Villanova's 2009 class up the recruiting rankings.
There will be a new No. 1 in the Rivals.com 2009 team recruiting rankings when they are revised this month. Behind the strength of three five-star prospects and a four-star prospect, Villanova's four man recruiting class will take over the top spot from North Carolina.

Cheek, 6-foot-5, 175-pounds, joins fellow five-star prospects Mouphtaou Yarou and Maalik Wayns and four-star prospect Isaiah Armwood in the Villanova recruiting class.
Villanova, who diligently recruiting Cheek for multiple years won out over Kansas, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Memphis.
Not only is Jay Wright's recruiting class a group of highly ranked prospects, it is also a balanced class with a high caliber point guard (Wayns), NBA style shooting guard (Cheek), tantalizing combo forward (Armwood) and a dominant low post player (Yarou).
Cheek, the No. 16 ranked prospect in the Rivals150, is a high level scorer with length for his position and plenty of potential.
