Charlie Villanueva: Staying Home To Study

Charlie Villanueva, an agile 6-8 forward from Blair Academy in New Jersey, is not going to make the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions, an event being staged this upcoming weekend in the North Carolina area.
"Charlie is busy with his academic situation," said Long Island Panthers head coach Gary Charles. "He would like to be with us but his schoolwork is more important than basketball."

Charles said that Villanueva will be with the Long Island Panthers when they tour the summer AAU circuit. "Charlie just has to study this week and be ready for his finals at Blair," Charles said. "Charlie wants to make sure he is set for his future in the classroom too."
Charles certainly would love to have this skilled forward but Villanueva is a rising junior. He will have many more opportunities to showcase his skills on the AAU circuit.
Syracuse, North Carolina, St. John's, Seton Hall, Rutgers, Villanova, Kentucky, Connecticut, Georgetown are just a few schools that Villanueva has said he is interested in. He is wide open since it is early in his recruiting process.
