Central Florida scores big

Donnie Jones and UCF have parlayed their impressive start this year into an impressive commitment from talented 2012 prospect Shawn Smith.
Garnering attention from high major schools across the country, Smith found exactly what he was looking for when he visited Central Florida this past weekend.

"When I went there Saturday for the game, I spoke with Coach Jones, and he said I was their number one priority," said Smith. "Coach Jones is the main reason I want to go there. He is a great person and I love his personality and the way he coaches. He is going to change my game and take me to the next level."
The focus of that change is for Smith, who is a 6-foot-3, 175-pound combo guard, to become a true point guard.
"Coach Jones is going to help me raise my stock as a point guard," said Smith. "I think he can make me an unstoppable point guard."
Smith, who is attending Jacksonville (Fla.) Providence School, is also excited about the future of Central Florida's program.
"There are a lot of other good players at Central Florida," Smith said. "It is one of the best up and coming programs in the country, and we are going to shock the world with how good we are going to be."
Smith chose Central Florida over offers from Florida State, Kansas State and South Carolina.
