Celestial Prep Upends LI Lutheran

MIDDLE ISLAND, NEW YORK -- Long Island Lutheran had one goal in mind when it faced the high-spirited offense of Celestial Prep -- hold them below their average of 84 points a game. Well, they almost accomplished that task. But it didn't matter anyway.
The inside power of Antwaun Miller and the outside skills of Aaron Cook enabled Celestial Prep to defeat LI Lutheran, 84-60, at the Rim Rocker tournament held at Longwood High School.

Miller scored 21 points, most of them on inside drives. Cook scored 17 points, most on jumpers. They were helped off the bench by Omar Williams, who added 15 points.
The score was tied at 17 after the first quarter. Celestial took the lead for good in the second, leading 35-28 heading into halftime. In the third, with the help of some offensive work by Williams, Celestial stretched its advantage to 57-38. The fourth provided garbage time for all. Williams is headed to George Washington next season.
Junior forward Charles Bronson had 10 points for the winners and showed some promise for the future. Brandon Wilson had 17 points to lead Long Island Lutheran. John Buck added 13 and Chakiris McBrown had 10 for the losers.
Celestial Prep will now face Our Savior New American in one semifinal tonight. Long Island Lutheran will face Grady High School in the consolation bracket this afternoon. Results will be posted tonight here on this site.
